Fisher’s long history with DC is not hidden from fans, and ever since Justice League was released in 2017, he has been raising his voice regarding issues he faced during the filming process and after. With Gunn recently taking over the role of DC Studios co-president, alongside Peter Safran, he is now Fisher’s new target. However, he handled the situation that was raised by the actor quite quickly.

Fisher shared a few screen grabs from previous tweets on Twitter, which included a conversation about Whedon following the actor’s accusation of being mistreated on the set of Justice League. The posts include a tweet from actor Alan Tudyk, who refuted Fisher’s claims on behalf of his friend Whedon. At the time, Gunn had liked Tudyk’s post but later clarified that he wasn’t aware of the situation. However, Gunn’s clarification post has now been deleted from Twitter, something that Fisher pointed out and accused Gunn of removing the evidence of all the times he stood against DC.
“The way James Gunn uses fake grace on Twitter is really funny. Him going to bat for Joss Whedon, pseudo-apologizing for it, and then deleting it immediately before taking his new DC job is not,” read Fisher’s tweet. He claimed that “refusing to apologize for toxic behavior” is potentially a “job requirement” that Gunn needed to fulfill. The filmmaker responded within a few hours, saying the missing tweet was due to an automatic feature he opted for on the social media platform. “ALL my tweets automatically delete every few months, Ray, it has nothing to do with my tweets to you.”
This entire incident is a reminder that while the DC film division might be under new leadership, actors and fans have not forgotten about previous incidents and issues. Fisher has been fighting this battle for years and has now brought it to the doorstep of the new person in charge.
Gunn also took to Twitter to address the backlash he and his co-president have faced since taking on the new position. Many fans are unhappy with some of the decisions made for the DC Universe since the two took over, with the most important one being Henry Cavill not returning as Superman.
Justice League is streaming on HBO Max.
